Week 4&5. Articulation

1) My argument 

I want to argue that there is middle process between conscious processing and unconscious processing. 
We can certainly distinguish two parts of brain's information processing. One is conscious processing. It includes making a plan or short term memory or thoughts. Another is unconscious processing. It includes unacceptable sexual desires or violent motives. However, concepts are too many to define just as these two parts. How about dreaming(during sleep time) or memories which we can hardly recall? Therefore, I have thought that there would be other levels of conscious and found the credible concept, 'preconscious'

2) How I found my argument 

My first research question was,  Is there any middle process between 'consciousness' and 'unconsciousness'? When I first thought about it, I couldn't assure that there is a middle process. Also, I wasn't sure even what the exact meaning of term.(conscious, preconscious, unconscious) So definitions of them and each traits helped me understand more exact information of human mind. And some authoritative professors' opinion, especially Sigmund Freud's theory supported my thinking firmly. Moreover, one empirical example of preconscious. (through Hypnosis)
As a result, I was able to assure that the middle level of information processing exists.

3) New research questions 

I have several questions that need to be resolved.

1) What are the more applicable examples that prove preconsious?
2) Can people feel differences between conscious and unconscious? or Is it an individual difference?
3) What is an opposite claim?

I'll continue browsing the internet and searching articles about human mind. And I'll reference related books.

4) Connections to the Harvard Sampler 

My argument has deep connections to the Harvard Sampler. At first, it is related to the human mind. More specifically, my argument include brain's information processing part. In Harvard Sampler also, two parts of information processing have already been distinguished. However, I thought that the ambiguity of their boundary still exists and therefore, there would be other hidden level exists. As a result, my research can replace more plentiful information to Harvard Sampler.
